TASCAM’s award winning DR-60D is the new audio recording solution for on-set filmmakers and videographers using DSLR’s. For years, filmmakershave been trying different methods for recording audio, using bulky recorders designed for music and trying to transform the inferior audio technology built-into DSLR’s. Now TASCAM has designed an answer that pros and amateurs alike have been waiting for.

The DR-60D is a brand new 4-track solid-state recorder utilizing TASCAM’s decades of experience. The recorder utilizes high-grade HDDA pre-amps, legendary AD converters, and a durable but lightweight structure and shape. This device will fit snuggly under any camera or into any rig, and record up to 96kHz/24-bit high quality audio straight to SD/SDHC media. Filmmakers have at their disposal two 1/4″-XLR Locking Combo MIC/LINE Inputs, 3.5mm Stereo MIC Input, Camera In, Camera Out, Line Out and Headphone Out. Both 1/4″-XLR Combo Inputs supply +48V Phantom Power and the 3.5mm Input supplies Plug-In Power for microphones requiring a bias voltage.

The DR-60D is incredibly easy to use, employing TASCAM’s very popular user interface and external controls for every major operation. The body structure, soft-touch keys and dials are designed specifically to help eliminate handling noise. The multiple record modes include, 4-Channel Record, Auto Record and TASCAM’s Dual Record “Safety Track” Mode make the DR-60D one of the most versatile recorders on the market.

Feature 1 – X-Trans CMOS Sensor – Enabling high quality imaging

Equipped with a large APS-C size sensor the resolving and descriptive power of the Fujinon lens can be maximized thereby enabling high resolution over the entire screen.

The X-E1′s sensor adopts the same high-performance 16M X-Trans CMOS found in the X Series flagship X-Pro1 model. Featuring an originally developed colour filter array with a highly random pixel arrangement, its X-Trans CMOS sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the X-Trans CMOS sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce unprecedented resolution. The unique random arrangement of the colour filter array is also highly effective in enhancing noise separation in high-sensitivity photography. Another advantage of the large APS-C sensor is the ability to create a beautiful “bokeh” effect– the aesthetic out-of-focus effect created when shooting with a shallow depth of field.

Feature 2 – High-definition and high-luminance 2.36M-dot “OLED electronic viewfinder”

By combining the best “OLED electronic viewfinder” in its class with FUJIFILM’s original optical technology the X-E1 offers a bright, wide field of vision of which its entirety can be seen at a glance.

2.36M-dot Organic EL Panel
With approx. 2.36M dots of resolution and 100% coverage, the X-E1 display panel provides incredible detail to perfectly frame and focus your shots. The rich colour expression of OLED technology and high contrast ratio of 1:5000* reflect exposure, white balance and film simulation settings with high fidelity, letting you confirm changes in real time.

Feature 3 - Design & Accessories

Two different X-E1s with two personalities. The analog interface enabling instinctive operation that allows you to capture “the perfect moment”.

With an 18-55mm lens the X-E1 is compact and has a bright F2.8 as well as an image stabilization function for four shutter speeds. It is available in black or silver.

Potentially the smallest full-frame dSLR on the camera market – Canon’s EOS 6D.

Interestingly, the Canon EOS 6D includes built-in Wi-Fi using a wireless transmitter within the camera. When connected to Wi-Fi, the 6D can transmit photos and video to social networking sites like Facebook or devices like smartphones and laptops. In addition, media can be transmitted between compatible PowerShot cameras.

Another wireless function allows the camera to be controlled through an application on a tablet or smartphone, ideal for taking photos remotely. GPS functions are also directly built into the 6D rather than requiring an add-on, external device. The built-in GPS receiver records longitude, latitude and elevation as well as EXIF data for geo-tagging while shooting. When photos are uploaded to social networks, the location data can be included to mark the spot where the photo was originally taken.

Are you looking for a way to increase the performance of your notebook? Then upgrading the storage is often an easy and worthwhile way to boost the speed of your laptop without buying a new computer.

PROS of SSD ( Solid State Drive)

Very short random access times – usually less then 0.1ms. For contrast, hard disk drives (HDDs) typically have access times of 5-10ms. An SSD should also have constant access time, whereas HDDs experience jitter depending on the prior location of the read/write head.

Drastically improved sequential transfer speeds, partly due to the parallelism of flash chips. New SSDs can max-out a SATA 3 Gbit/s bus; PCIe-based SSDs can reach over 700 MByte/s (5.6 Gbit/s).

No moving parts, very resistant to shock (many drives can withstand over 1000G), and absolutely silent operation.

Small form factor (most drives are 2.5″, some are PCIe which leaves more drive bays open), very light.

Good performance for both sustained and random reads/writes (mostly due to lower latency).

Not susceptible to magnetic fields (but are susceptible to radiation, like all other flash/DRAM).

Relatively low power consumption (flash-based SSDs only)

Installation Performance

The SSDs are clearly leading the pack here. The 7200rpm hard drives took about 3 minutes more than the SSDs. As could be expected the 5400rpm Fujitsu came in slowest.

Windows Startup Performance

The SSDs are showing off their muscles here, booting in about 22 seconds.

File Copy & Software Launching Performance

Multitasking Performance

Battery life

Noise and Vibration

A nice benefit of SSD is the total lack of noise and vibration coming from them.

Overview

The next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina Display – it’s a mouthful of a name. Apple’s latest notebook represents the culmination of a number of trends from one of the industry’s most visible players – from unibody aluminum construction to soldered-in components; from solid-state storage to the much-vaunted Retina Display.

Apple clearly has a vision for where they want to take portable computing, and while impressive, it has its drawbacks, too. Let’s jump into things by taking a look at the MacBook Pro’s most talked about feature: its stunningly high resolution display.

Pros

The H1 Handy Recorder has our renowned recording technology and studio-quality microphones in our easiest, most portable device ever.

Now Zoom recording technology is available to everyone. And with an infinite variety of applications, you’ll want to take your H1 everywhere. From musical performances, songwriting sessions and rehearsals to seminars, conferences, journalism or capturing audio for video, the H1 gives you clean, clear stereo sound effortlessly.

What sets us apart?

Like all Zoom recorders, the H1’s onboard microphones are configured in an X/Y pattern, for stunning stereo imaging. Because both mics are arranged on the same axis, they are equidistant from the sound source for perfect localization and no phase shifting. The result is great stereo recordings with natural depth and accurate imaging.

Under your thumb…

With its newly designed user interface, the H1 is also our easiest recorder to use. All its functions are at your fingertips, such as track marker, auto record, low cut filter, level and volume controls with on-board buttons… No menus required ! Intuitive controls make it easy to capture the audio you need with ease. But we still provide the versatility you’ve come to expect from Zoom. So you get total recording format flexibility from 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/96 kHz WAV, or MP3 from 48 kbps to 320 kbps and enough tools onboard to make impeccable recordings.

Secure your digital memories.

The H1 records on microSD cards and comes with a 2GB microSD card. Using a 32GB microSDHC card allows over 50 hours of recording time at 16-bit/44.1 kHz. MicroSD cards were specifically designed for the ever-evolving mobile technology market. Approximately the size of a fingernail, the microSD card is a significant advance in technology and its size and capacity are a major reason why the H1 is able to deliver so much recording technology in such a small package.

Share the love.

With its Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port, the H1 allows for fast transfer of your audio files to your computer. Listen, edit and share with your fans on your Mac or PC. It also includes a reference speaker to ensure your recordings are being captured as you desire.

H1 Features at a glance:

The H1 Handy Recorder puts all its functions at your fingertips. No menus! Its backlit display features recording levels, file format, time elapsed, remaining battery life and recording time.

Its intuitive transport puts all the controls on the side with no menus on the screen. A large record button gives you complete control. Playback and pause, marker, forward and rewind buttons are all accessible by your thumb. Volume for playback and monitoring can be adjusted using your index finger.

On the back, you’ll find a single AA battery compartment, a tripod mount, low cut filter, auto level setting and recording format selectable switches. There’s also convenient mount for a strap or lanyard clip.
